When someone searches for a service near them, Google shows a map with three businesses at the top. That is the map pack, and it captures a large share of clicks and calls. Local SEO is how you earn a place in it.
What Google looks at
Google says local results depend mainly on three things: relevance, distance, and prominence. You cannot change where the searcher is standing, but you can improve how relevant and how well known your business looks.
1. Optimize your Google Business Profile
- Choose the most accurate primary category and add secondary ones that truly apply.
- Fill in every field: services, hours, description, attributes, and a phone number.
- Add real photos of your team, premises, and work regularly.
- Post updates and offers, and answer questions people ask.
2. Keep your name, address, and phone consistent
Your business details should match everywhere online. List your business in trusted directories with the exact same name, address, and phone number. Inconsistencies confuse search engines and weaken trust.
3. Earn and answer reviews
Reviews influence both rankings and customer decisions. Ask happy customers after each job with a direct link to your profile. Reply to every review politely, including the critical ones. Never buy reviews or offer rewards for them, which breaks the rules.
4. Build location and service pages
Create a unique page for each main service and each city you serve. Write about real local details, not the same text with the place name swapped. Add your address, a map, and clear ways to contact you.
5. Get local links and mentions
Local news sites, chambers of commerce, sponsorships, and partner businesses all build prominence. Even a few relevant local links help.
Service-area businesses
If you travel to customers and do not have a public shop, you can still rank. Set your service areas correctly and hide your address if the rules require it. Our local SEO service sets this up the right way for your model.
Track what matters
Watch map rankings across your service area, plus calls, direction requests, and form enquiries from your profile. Rankings are a means, and enquiries are the goal.
